What I'd like to see is a youth-targeted work on personal finance. Everything my kids have seen in the public school has been weak.

I subscribed with my email address. Shoot me a note. I only read a few chapters and liked it and I'm planning on getting it out again tonight. I also had a friend recommend a book called '88 Daddy-Daughter Dates' so I bought it before realising my friend is very religious and there is a fair bit of God/Jesus talk in the book. Regardless though, there are some good ideas in there for father-daughter quality time.

- favorite freethinking books: I don't really read freethinking books, I just cruise websites and blogs but my sister in law bought my son 'The Magic of Reality' a few years ago and I was reading it with him recently and we very much enjoyed it.

- favorite classic novels: 'The Old Man and the Sea' and 'Anne of Green Gables'. I looooove Anne!

- favorite fiction: Harry Potter!

- favorite kids' book: 'A Wrinkle in Time', particulary the start because I love kids that others consider 'odd' or different in some way. I identified with these kids. For comedy, my son and I would laugh at the Selby the talking dog stories.

- favorite sci/fi or other genre: answering 'Tolkien' may seem a little boring but there you have it :D

- favorite all time reads: Hitch hiker's Guide to the Galaxy cracks me up every time.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357415193462649988.post-78786248840183220862014-05-11T19:49:50.403-05:002014-05-11T19:49:50.403-05:00No fair, you said 5 then suggested 7 categories......No fair, you said 5 then suggested 7 categories... that's just teasing!
Parenting: "Parenting From the Inside Out". A parenting book by people with actual relevant qualifications and backed up by research, what a concept!
Classic novel: "Lolita". Not exactly enjoyable reading, but such an astounding work of literature. "1984" is a close contender though.
Kids' book: "Prince Caspian". Despite the heavy handing religiosity and racism, Narnia will always have a special place in my heart. A really interesting book that explores the conflict between nostalgia for childhood enjoyment of Narnia versus adult atheism is "The Magician's Book", by the way.
Sci/fi: "Ender's Game" hands down, no contest.
Favorite all time read: "Wicked"
Sopheliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09891110033136610235noreply@blogger.com
