Is There Any Way it Won't be as Bad as I Think?

What I keep hearing from Trump supporters is that I'm overreacting.
It won't be as bad as you think! They say.

But the list against him is LONG and egregious.

  • His propensity for mis- and dis-information. We'll never know what the frick is going on. Similarly, the need for fact checkers as he speaks. He is a liar.
  • He won't sign an ethical agreement.
  • His so-far-secret alliance with Vladimir Putin and other authoritarian leaders around the globe.
  • Tariffs and his lack of economic policy to improve things in this country will cause global problems economically
  • His open racism and the rise of out racism in this country.
  • His open sexism.
  • LGBTQ+ discrimination across the board
  • Media control
  • Pandering to the religious right
  • He's a felon.
  • Sleazy Vice President
  • He's an isolationist
  • NATO!
  • World leaders consider him a dangerous and a foolish man
  • He does not operate within the rule of law
  • I expect an uptick in religious extremism: SEPARATION of Church and State is constitutional.
  • Fear of "others"
  • Cutting taxes for the extremely wealthy.
  • His loyalist sycophants provide no guard rails or nuance and are "yes men"
  • He does not support science.
  • He wants to dismantle federal agencies.
  • He wants to dismantle higher education organizations and universities.
  • He wants to dismantle news and information sources that do not agree with him.
  • Eliminate NOAA—National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. Which includes the national weather service. I guess weather will be privatized… so, poor areas of the country will be left to guess when it might rain or rely on grannie’s rheumatism.
  • He is threatening "retribution" on those against him.
  • RFK Jr. in the Health and Human Services role. The controversial and un-scientific approach to governing our nation in this vital area.
  • The rest of his unprepared and unqualified cabinet. Loyalist nominations rather than qualifications.
  • His zealousness to use his military power. Yes, I do mean atomic.
  • His denial of climate change.
  • His overzealous reach on immigration in this country.
  • He was found guilty in the rape case with E. Jean Carroll.
  • His mishandling of classified documents.
  • His corrupt way of controlling those in the office on the right.
  • Project 2025
  • Disassembling promises of Department of Education
  • He is a bully against anyone who doesn't agree with him
  • His position on Women's health care and abortion rights
  • His authoritarian approach to government, the end of democracy as we know it.
  • His divisive nature and how that affects our country
  • Will he preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States?
  • His legal issues will be delayed until after he serves his term. This is bullshit and does not look like justice to me. The end of Jack Smith's investigation.
  • The many officials and previous office-holders of his past administration who call him "UNFIT for OFFICE"
  • He is a literal threat to our nation's security and safety.
  • He's a weak man who is thought of by some as a strong man.
  • His lack of a plan for medical care in this country...his concept of a plan...
  • He lacks nuanced thinking with regards to politics and issues in our country.
  • His effed up ego and personality is not fit for office in this global power office.
  • A man with unilateral power is a dictator

I KNOW you can think of more reasons why he should not be in office.
Please add to the list in the comments.

My point here is that when Republicans tell me that it won't be so bad, really, they are in for a rude awakening when his incompetencies and his corruption affects them directly.

Your thoughts on this?

  2. If you read The Origins of Totalitarianism (Hannah Arendt) you realize his handlers are using as a handbook.
